Covid Wedding Tips

A Letter to our couples regarding COVID-19

No one could have ever guessed that this is how 2020 would look. If you haven’t had to reschedule your wedding yet you’re probably waiting for the day when you have to make that decision. Our hearts are broken with you, and we are here to help.

Here are a few things to consider regarding safety, precautions, and next step alternatives:

  1. SAFETY: Make sure the two of you are looking after each other. Prioritize your health. Refrain from being in large crowds, wash your hands often, and be wise about social distancing in this time.

  2. UPDATE: A great way to keep a line of communication open to your guests is via a wedding website. Services like “the knot” are a great way to have a home base with updates especially in uncertain times like these. This way, you don’t have to individually contact every single guest, but instead can send a mass email to everyone to keep checking the site for updates.

  3. LOCAL: If you haven’t ordered bridesmaid dresses, or suits for the groom and groomsmen, you may need to consider going local as many overseas companies are having delays in shipments due to the pandemic.

  4. VENDORS: During this time, lean in and rely on your vendors. Reach out to them with questions and concerns. Be gracious as we are all navigating this together. Trust that your vendors are on your side, and let’s all walk through this together

  5. POSTPONE: If you are considering postponing your wedding day, contact vendors IMMEDIATELY. This very well may be an option for you, but please make sure you can arrive on a date that all your important vendors have available before deciding on a new date.

  6. ELOPE: You can elope! Perhaps have an intimate backyard wedding with just family, or maybe find a park or open scenic area to say your vows and officially become husband and wife. You can even livestream it so guests can watch along. You can then have a big celebration later on when everything is a little more on the normal side. Plus, if you have a video made, you could actually play it at your celebration in the future so that guests that were not able to attend are able to experience the day and see all the emotion!

Marriage is so much more than a wedding. Although weddings are such a fun and special day, your marriage means more than that. Your marriage is about being connected to the love of your life forever. Your marriage is a commitment for better or worse (and maybe worse is getting married during a world-wide pandemic) These are unique times in history. If you are getting married during this time, then your wedding story is bound to be one for the history books.
